Aluminum Stamping Services
AMG’s Mount Vernon, Ohio, facility stamps a range of aluminum alloys, including 5000 and 6000 series, using coil and sheet stock in thicknesses from 0.010 to 0.250 inches. Our 18 stamping presses offer capacities from 50 to 300 tons, supported by an in-house tool room that maintains dies to optimize performance, ensure consistent quality, and keep parts within specified dimensional tolerances.

Aluminum Stamps Differently From Steel
Buyers changing a product from steel to aluminum, or replacing an aluminum supplier, usually learn the hard way that using the same die and the same press settings will result in varying degrees of issues, from burrs to improperly formed parts.
More Springback
Aluminum is about a third as stiff as steel, so formed features spring back further and the die has to over-bend to land on print.
Galling and Surface Marks
Aluminum tends to stick to tooling, which tears the surface and wears the die, so lubrication and die finish matter more than they do on steel.
Cracking in Hard Tempers
Heat-treated grades like 6061-T6 crack on tight bends that mild steel takes easily, so bend radii and temper need to be settled at the quote stage, before any parts split.
Aluminum Alloys We Stamp
1050-H14 and 1100-H14
Coil and sheet. Commercially pure aluminum with excellent formability, corrosion resistance and conductivity, common for heat shields, reflectors and electrical parts.

- Strength
- Corrosion resistance
3003-H14
Coil and sheet. The general-purpose grade, with good formability and more strength than pure aluminum, used for panels, housings, trim and heat shields.

- Strength
- Corrosion resistance
5052-H32
Coil and sheet. Higher strength with excellent corrosion resistance, including salt exposure, which suits brackets, enclosures and truck and marine parts.

5182 (EN AW-5182)
Coil. A high-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy used for automotive body and inner panels.

- Corrosion resistance
6061-T6
Coil and sheet. A heat-treated structural alloy and the strongest on this list. It needs generous bend radii, so it fits brackets and flat or lightly formed structural parts.

Another Alloy or Temper?
Send the spec with your request for quote and we will review whether it forms the way your part needs.
Ratings compare typical properties of the listed tempers against each other. Actual formability depends on temper, thickness and part geometry.
How We Stamp Aluminum
Aluminum rewards a stamper that plans for it. At AMG the tool room and the press room are under the same roof, so the toolmaker who designs your die sees the first parts come off the press and can correct springback within days.
Progressive Die, Deep Draw and Prototype
We run progressive die stamping for high-volume aluminum parts and deep draws on aluminum alongside steel and stainless. Prototype runs let you prove the alloy, temper and geometry before you commit to production tooling, and production batches run from 2,000 to 50,000+ parts.
Alloy and Temper Settled at the Quote
The right temper is often the difference between a part that forms cleanly and one that cracks. Our quoting team reviews the alloy, temper and bend radii on your print, so the trade-offs are settled before any tooling is built.
Finishing Steps Under One Roof
Aluminum stampings can move straight into laser cutting, welding, fabrication and assembly in the same plant, so you get finished parts and assemblies from one supplier. For steel and stainless work, see our metal stamping services.
Why Buyers Choose AMG for Aluminum Stampings
IN-HOUSE TOOL AND DIE
Dies designed, built and corrected by our own toolmakers, steps from the press.
±0.001" TOLERANCES
Precision held on production runs of stamped parts and verified by CMM measurement.
PROTOTYPE TO PRODUCTION
Prove the part on a low-volume run, then scale to 50,000+ parts per batch.
Don't Just Take Our Word For It
We approached AMG Industries when our previous supplier was consistently late and delivering poor quality parts, with stamping dies and tools in terrible condition. AMG quickly took over the troubled book of business, making significant improvements to consistency and quality. Their team successfully launched 18 part numbers in a remarkably short period of time, which was crucial for our operations. Now, thanks to AMG, we're experiencing consistent on-time deliveries with excellent quality results across all these parts.
